CARMELO Anthony caught fire in the second half to lead the turnaround for the New York Knicks in clawing back from a 15-point deficit to stun the Indiana Pacers, 118-111, at the Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time).
New York trailed 81-66 at the 4:45 mark of the third quarter but Anthony caught fire in the second half, hitting six of seven from beyond the arc to lead the comeback.
Trailing 99-91 early in the fourth quarter, Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick Rose teamed up to spark a 14-2 run to take control midway through the period, 105-101, and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way.
The Pacers got within three, 108-105, with four minutes left but Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony hit back-to-back triples to help New York finish off Indiana and snap a three-game slide.
Anthony matched his season-high with 35 points, shooting 7-of-11 from deep and combined with Porzingis to knock down 11 of the Knicks’ 13 triples. Rose and Porzingis scored 24 and 21, respectively, to help New York improve to 15-13.
Myles Turner and Thaddeus Young had 21 points each to lead the Pacers, who fell to 15-15. Al Jefferson scored 18 off the bench, and Jeff Teague added a double-double with 17 points and 12 assists. Paul George shot 6-of-16 to finish with 16 markers.
