ANTHONY Davis was a dominant force in scoring 28 points and grabbing a career-high 22 rebounds to lead the New Orleans Pelicans in erasing a 14-point deficit against the Miami Heat, 91-87, at the Smoothie King Center on Friday (Saturday, Manila time).

The Pelicans trailed 68-54 with 3:21 to go in the third period before Davis started taking over with 15 points in the frame to spark a 15-0 run that gave New Orleans the lead, 69-68, early in the fourth. The Heat, though, countered with a 9-0 blitz to regain control, 77-69, halfway through the final frame.

Jrue Holiday and Langston Galloway gave Davis ample support down the stretch to help the Pelicans complete the comeback and hold off the Heat in the closing minutes.

Davis also blocked four shots and outplayed his Heat counterpart Hassan Whiteside, who  finished with 10 points, 18 rebounds and two blocks.

Holiday scored 22 points, while Galloway added 11 as the only other Pelicans players in double figures. New Orleans improved to 11-21.

Goran Dragic led Miami (10-21) with 23 points. Justise Winslow added 12, while Tyler and James Johnson each scored 11.
