THE NBA introduced a new way of selecting the starters for the 2017 NBA All-Star Game.

Traditionally voted by fans, the starters for the 2017 NBA All-Star Game will now include votes from players and selected members of the basketball media in the ballot.

In a report by ESPN's Marc Stein, fans “will continue to account for 50 percent of the vote total for All-Star starters, with players and a panel of media members accounting for 25 percent each.”

All-Star voting is scheduled to begin on Christmas Day (Dec.26, Manila time) and will conclude on Jan. 16. The All-Star Game is Feb. 19 in New Orleans.

Players and selected media members are each entitled to one full ballot. Players can vote for themselves and their teammates. The ballot features slots for three frontcourt starters and two backcourt starters from both the Eastern and Western Conference.

Fans will be eligible to submit one ballot daily through NBA.com or the league's smartphone app, as well as through Twitter, Facebook and Google Search, and both Sina Weibo and Tencent Microblogs in China.
