JAMES Harden’s new signature shoe with adidas had an inauspicious start after leaked photos of it was roasted online.
According to the SneakerSpy website, the leaked several photos of a triple black colorway of the Houston Rocket star’s first signature sneaker that will reportedly release this coming December, prompting reactions from several detractors.
Initial observations said the sneaker looks like “a boot,” “what line cooks wear” or is similar to what cartoon character Elmer Fudd uses do not reflect the flamboyant Harden’s personal style.
The reactions were similar to the Curry 2 Low Under Armour sneakers a few months ago which many considered to have similar looks to walking shoes worn by senior citizens.
Based on the photos, the new shoe has a low top silhouette will feature a full-length adidas BOOST cushioning system in the midsole. The shoe has a leather toe cap that combines with what appears to be a one-piece fabric upper with tube laces going through double eyelets and a padded collar. Personal touches include Harden’s No.13 on the lateral side of the foxing and his signature on the translucent heel. The outsole has two ripple-effect patterns for traction.
Even as netizens had a field day making fun of Harden’s kicks, many said they will reserve judgment until the shoes’ official release.
