BROOKLYN Nets center Brook Lopez is coming to Manila on August 17 to 19 to grace an NBA-organized event.
Lopez, who recently signed a new contract with the Nets, will make an appearance in the NBA 3X Philippines 2012 presented by Sprite, a three-on-three tournament, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall and the SM by the Bay in Manila.
“I am very excited to visit the Philippines for this year's NBA 3X,” said Lopez in a statement. “I know some of the NBA’s most avid fans are in the Philippines and I look forward to bringing a taste of the league to their home country and seeing a great display of basketball talent.”
The Charlotte Lady Cats Dancers and Orlando Magic mascot Stuff will also be joining Lopez in the tour to entertain fans.
Lopez, who was drafted 10th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft and was named to the All-Rookie First Team in 2009, will also make appearances and interact with fans through clinics and community events.
Aside from the three-on-three event, a slam dunk contest, skills challenge and three-point shootout will also be played by the participants.
The NBA 3X will also feature tryouts for the Sprite Uncontainable Game where two Philippine finalists will be selected to be part of the global pool from which 2012 NBA champion and MVP LeBron James and NBA superstar Kobe Bryant will choose their teams.
If picked to be part of either team, finalists will be gifted a trip to the 2013 NBA All Star Game.
