MALL OF ASIA business unit head Arnel Gonzales said Friday basketball fans will be allowed to reserve a maximum of only two tickets for the NBA Global Game featuring the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets on October 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Gonzales said SM Tickets is doing this to prevent scalpers from taking advantage of the rare opportunity to watch an NBA pre-season game live.
“There will be reservation online but each person can purchase just two tickets. Naka-tag `yung system kaya mache-check ng system if more than two ang bibilhin,” said Gonzales shortly after the SM-NBA Philippine press conference at the SM Cinema 2 of the Mall of Asia.
The top Mall of Asia executive said the stringent ticket measure is part of SM’s commitment to give Filipino basketball fans an equal opportunity to get their own tickets and be able to enjoy the game.
At the same time, Gonzales mentioned this early, they are looking at the possibility of selling extra tickets at a standing-room-only (SRO) basis.
On June 16, starting 10 a.m., 16,000 tickets for the Pacers-Rockets pre-season game will be sold at all SM Ticket outlets and online at www.smtickets.com.
