THE first-ever NBA Store in Southeast Asia has been launched.

Set to open on Saturday, the NBA Store in the Philippines located at Glorietta 3 in Makati City is the largest outside the United States and offers authentic NBA merchandise and memorabilia.

Former Detroit Pistons star Rip Hamilton was in attendance to lead the formal launch of the store along with NBA Asia senior vice president and managing director Scott Levy.

“This is an incredible moment for all of us,” Levy said. “You can’t get the products in the NBA Store anywhere else. This is truly a unique shopping experience for the basketball fans.”

The NBA Store has a total space of 1,000 square meters covering two floors that includes a 284=inch LED screen in the exterior and 26 TV screens inside. There is also an interactive zone where fans can play NBA 2K and improve their skills.

“Basketball is a way of life in the Philippines, and we are excited to be working with the NBA to open an official NBA Store right here in Manila,” said Melvin Lloyd Lim, president and chief operating officer of International Athletic Trading Company, which operates the NBA Store in the Philippines.

“I’m in awe at this beautiful store right here. I’m sure you are excited because I’m like a kid with a cookie jar all over again because I want everything here. I’m just happy to be here,” said Hamilton, who played with Michael Jordan with the Washington Wizards before winning an NBA title with the Pistons in 2004.

The NBA Store will be opened to shoppers on Saturday with regular store hours at 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. during Fridays and Saturdays.

The first 300 visitors in the NBA Store will receive special prizes, including an opportunity to meet Hamilton, and win limited edition footwear, gift certificates, personalized jerseys, and other merchandise.
