THE NBA is not forgetting about the teams that failed to make the cut for the league’s restart in Orlando.

The league is in talks for a second “bubble” for the eight idle non-playoff teams to take part in a mini-training camp and games against eventually eliminated teams in in Chicago tentatively looking at a September date.

Jacke MacMullan of ESPN reported the development on Friday, Manila time,

The Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, and the Minnesota Timberwolves are the eight clubs who missed the cut.

The idea to give these squads a chance to play, ESPN reported, came from the concern that the long break would affect the development of their players, especially the young, rising stars.

Pistons coach Dwane Casey made a survey among fellow coaches of teams not in Disney and agreed to hold own camps.

"We'd rather do that than go to the bubble," Casey said, "because unlike those teams in Orlando, we wouldn't be playing for the same reason.”

"The reason we want these mini-camps is to get our team together, to have that camaraderie, to improve and enjoy some competition. We feel we can do that safely in our own environment. We can't let these guys sit around from March 11 to December without something. It's going to hurt their careers. It's too long of a layoff."
