THE Golden State Warriors survived a feisty close-out effort from the Oklahoma City Thunder, 120-111, at the Oracle Arena on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) thanks to a torrid early run in the fourth quarter from their bench and some clutch baskets late from their stars.

Reigning MVP Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 31 points while backcourt mate Klay Thompson added 27 . But it was the bench mob, led by Mo Speights’ 14 points, that helped them get some breathing room in the final period.

The Warriors, with their stars watching on the sidelines to start the fourth quarter, went on a 10-2 run, with Andre Iguodala orchestrating the offense, hitting Harrison Barnes on two consecutive threes before Speights took over.

Kevin Durant had 40 points and seven rebounds, while Russell Westbrook added 31 markers, 8 assists, and 5 steals to keep the Thunder close in the closing minutes.

Curry, though, iced the game with some crucial baskets, free throws, and defensive plays late.

The Thunder leads the series 3-2 as Game Six moves back to OKC on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).
