ASIDE from their shoes, players may be given a new way to express support to the battle for social justice as the NBA is reportedly discussing allowing players to replace their names on their jerseys with statements.
Earlier, Black Lives Matter replaced the names of Premier League players on their jerseys in the league resumption from coronavirus stoppage. The Premier League also supports players taking a knee at matches.

The NBA could follow, with The Athletic's Shams Charania saying NBA officials are discussing the matter.
The NBA has set a July 30 date for its restart at Disney World in Florida.
The Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans face off in the first match of the 22-team NBA restart.

Several players have expressed concerns the resumption of the NBA season could be a distraction from social justice efforts.
Some have argued that it will actually help with the ongoing battle for racial equality.
Retired NBA player Stephen Jackson, who was close with George Floyd and calls him his twin, said the timing of the restart doesn’t help BLM. Floyd died in police custody in Minnesota in May.
“I love the NBA, man. That's my family. But now ain't the time to be playing basketball,” said Jackson in an Instagram video.

Houston Rockets guard Austin Rivers said getting back on court will help players support the movement.
“With this money you could help out even more people and continue to give more importantly your time and energy towards the BLM movement. Which I’m 100% on board with,” Rivers posted on Instagram.
