MOSES MALONE’s former Houston Rockets teammates Rudy Tomjanovich, Calvin Murphy, John Lucas and Major Jones and Sixers teammates julius Erving and Maurice Cheeks led the over 1,200 mourners who gathered to remember the basketball Hall of Famer.

Malone, who died last week at the age of 60 in Norfolk, Virginia, was honored at a funeral on Saturday in Houston (Sunday, Manila time), his adopted hometown. Malone was born in Petersburg, Virginia.

Charles Barkley delivered the eulogy, saying he saw his Philadelphia 76ers teammates as older brothers and Malone treated him like a son.

"When I got to the Philadelphia 76ers in 1984, we had a bunch of tremendous older brothers on the team. I looked at those guys as older brothers. But there was one guy — and to this day, I never understood why — who took me under his wing. And that was Moses. He treated me like a son,” the Houston Chronicle quoted Barkley.
