ZACH LaVine and the Minnesota starters all finished in double digit scoring as Minnesota dealt undermanned Memphis a 36-point drubbing, 116-80, to nab its first win of the season at the Target Center on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time).
The Timberwolves pounced on the Grizzlies, who rested Mike Conley and Marc Gasol on a front end of a back-to-back, early before building a lead as big as 40 points in the third quarter.
Minnesota knocked down 12 triples on 60 percent shooting from beyond the arc, and was efficient on offense with a 55 percent clip, while holding Memphis, who played Zach Randolph and Vince Carter in limited minutes as well, to just 36.5 percent from the field.
LaVine led all scorers with 31, including five treys. Gorgui Dieng, who just signed a four-year, $64M extension, and Andrew Wiggins each had 17 points for Minnesota. Karl-Anthony Towns finished with a double-double of 11 markers and 10 boards while Kris Dunn, who started for the injured Ricky Rubio, added 10.
Deyonta Davis had 17 points off the bench for Memphis, while Troy Williams added 14.
