THE Miami Heat won its first game in the post-Dwyane Wade era at the expense of inter-state rival Orlando Magic 108-96 on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
Six players scored in double figures for the Heat. Hassan Whiteside led a balanced attack for the Heat with 18 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. Goran Dragic finished with 16 markers, six assists and six rebounds while Justise Winslow and Tyler Johnson had 15 apiece.
Evan Fournier led the Magic's losing cause with 20 points while Nikola Vucevic had 17 markers and 14 rebounds.
It was a close game at the half with the Magic leading 53-50 before the Heat went on a 30-16 scoring binge in the third quarter and never looked back.
