Lakers sign Metta World Peace to one-year deal, providing veteran presence to young squad

METTA World Peace looks to again suit up for the Los Angeles Lakers, getting a one-year contract.

The player formerly known as Ron Artest is reuniting with former teammate and now Lakers coach Luke Walton.

World Peace is getting US$1.4 million, according to ESPN.

The two were part of two NBA championship teams.

The 36-year old forward played limited minutes last season and is expected to help provide a solid locker room presence for the team’s young core.

"I'm excited about everything. I'm prepared to help the young guys grow. To play, everything," said World Peace who averaged 5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 35 games.
