MEMPHIS leaned on some steady plays from its grizzly vets to turn back Utah, 102-96, at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).
Marc Gasol and Mike Conley led the Grizzlies attack in the first half as Memphis built an early lead by as much as 12 points in the second quarter and had a 56-48 advantage at halftime.
But Utah rallied after the break and momentarily took a 86-85 lead in the fourth quarter. Vince Carter and Gasol then scored four apiece in a 10-5 run to put Memphis ahead 96-90 with less than a minute left and held on to the win.
Gasol had a game-high 22 points and Carter added 20 off the bench to help Memphis notch its first road win of the season to improve to 5-5. Conley and Zach Randolph each had 18 markers, while the latter added 10 rebounds.
Trey Lyles led Utah with 20 points, while Trey Lyles and Shelvin Mack added 18 and 17 markers, respectively, off the bench for the Jazz, who fell to a 7-5 record.
