TONEY Douglas lifted the Memphis Grizzlies with a pair of clutch free throws in the end game and Marc Gasol scored 36 points as the Memphis Grizzlies won its fifth straight game in a comeback victory against the Portland Trail Blazers at the FedEx Forum on Thursday (Friday, Manila time).
The score was tied 86-all when Douglas drew a foul on CJ McCollum as he went up for a shot with .5 seconds left in the game.
Douglas sank both free throws to give the Grizzlies a two point lead. Portland tried to make a desperation play but Tony Allen stole a pass from Mason Plumlee as time expired.
Gasol also had nine rebounds and sank a crucial three-pointer in the last period. Allen added 15 points, 10 rebounds and two steals while Douglas finished with 11 points and three assists.
Memphis improved to 17-8, which currently is ranked fifth in the Western Conference.
Portland was leading by 14 points, 77-64, with 7:34 left in the last quarter before the Grizzlies staged a late rally. A three-pointer from Troy Daniels gave Memphis the lead, 82-81 at the 1:35 mark.
C.J. McCollum went 4-4 from downtown for 24 points. Damian Lillard scored 19 and Evan Turner had 15 markers and grabbed 10 rebounds for Portland (12-12) which lost its second straight.
