ALTHOUGH Marc Gasol isn’t actually on top of the Los Angeles Lakers’ wish list, they can now scratch him off because the Memphis guard reportedly isn’t interested in signing with them.
The Spanish big man who has helped Memphis become a power in the Western Conference isn’t likely to move from the Southwest to the Pacific Division cellar-dwellers mainly due to the issues elder brother Pau Gasol had in the last few seasons there, according to the LA Times.
“Marc Gasol has no interest in the Lakers because of the uneasy last few years his brother spent with them, according to numerous people familiar with the situation,” wrote Mike Bresnahan.
The Lakers had a chance to take a big man in Jahlil Okafor in the draft but went for D’Angelo Russell, who was touted as the best talent overall in the draft pool.
Now the Lakers try to land a big man in free agency and the list is said to include power forward-center Greg Monroe.
