NIKOLA Jokic had the last laugh in the battle of NBA’s premier foreign players on Friday, Manila time.
The do-it-all Serbian big man sank a contested jump-hook in the waning seconds to lift the Denber Nuggets past the Dallas Mavericks, 100-99, to the delight of the home crowd at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
The result spoiled another splendid showing from Slovenian rookie sensation Luka Doncic, who flirted with a triple-double of 24 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists for the Mavs.
Doncic highlighted his performance with a slam dunk that gave the Mavs a 99-98 lead – but that set the stage for Jokic’s heroics.
Paul Millsap led the Nuggets with 33 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
