JULIUS Randle notched a triple-double while Nick Young and D’Angelo Russell each drilled six triples as the hot shooting Los Angeles Lakers mauled the Memphis Grizzlies, 116-102, at the Staples Center on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time).

Russell made two straight triples in an 8-0 start for the Lakers, but a Grizzlies’ 11-2 counter helped Memphis trail by just two after the first quarter. Then Young and Russell hit two treys each in a 14-4 run to turn a tie game at 37 into a 10-point lead near the end of the period, and the Lakers held a 57-48 edge at the half.

The torrid shooting continued for the Lakers as Jordan Clarkson drilled two triples in an 11-3 run to push the lead up to 17, 86-69, late in the third. And they showed no let up in the fourth, leading by as much as 19 halfway through the period, 106-87, with back-to-back buckets by Clarkson.

Randle then had his 10th assist to complete his triple-double with a pass on a Brandon Ingram jumper with less than five minutes remaining.

Memphis tried to mount a comeback in cutting the lead down to 11, 109-98, at the 2-minute mark but it was just too big a lead to overcome as the Lakers ended a three-game slump with clutch baskets and free throws down the stretch.

Randle finished with 19 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, while Russell chipped in 18 markers, all scored from beyond the arc. Jordan Clarkson had 10 of his 16 in the second half, while Lou Williams and Timofey Mozgov each added 14 markers.

Randle became the sixth player with multiple triple-doubles this season, along with Russell Westbrook, James Harden, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Draymond Green. He also ended Memphis' streak of 177 games without allowing a triple-double.
