    Lob City still in full effect as Clippers cap silent Lonzo Ball debut with rout over Lakers

    LOB City still lives in Los Angeles, sort of, as the Clippers began a new season with the same dominance over the young Lakers, 108-92, spoiling an anticipated but silent NBA debut of Lonzo Ball at Staples Center on Thursday (Friday, Manila time).

    The Clippers never trailed in their first game without Chris Paul, showing a crisp offense against the Lakers’ still ineffective defense.

    A 22-6 run from midway through the third period to early in the fourth effectively took out the fight from the Lakers as the Clippers led by 30, 95-65, punctuated by a Willie Reed jam off a lob from Austin Rivers.

    Jordan Clarkson sparked a 10-0 counter for the Lakers but it was way too late to claw out of such a deep hole.

    Blake Griffin had a game-high 29 points to go with 12 rebounds, while his frontcourt partner DeAndre Jordan also had a double-double with 14 markers and 24 boards. Lou Williams also scored 12 off the bench.

    Brook Lopez led the Lakers with 20 points, while Clarkson added 18 off the bench.

    With Pat Beverley all over him on defense, the touted rookie Ball had a quiet outing in his first official game in the NBA with only three points on 1-of-6 shooting, but had nine rebounds.
