TWO-time Olympic gold medalist LeBron James is set to skip the USA Basketball minicamp in Las Vegas.
James, who did not suit up for Team USA in 2016 Rio de Janeiro after winning with the team in Beijing 2008 and London 2012 under Mike Krzyzewski, is expected to miss the first official event for the team now under coach Gregg Popovich, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
The team is preparing for the 2019 World Cup in China and 2020 Olympics in Tokyo get together July 25 to 27 at UNLV.
James, who has moved from Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers, was included in a 35-man USA player pool earlier this year.
He attended Sunday’s NBA Summer League quarterfinal game between the Lakers and Detroit Pistons, with his new team advancing.
