THE Brooklyn Nets got some boost with the arrival of Lance Thomas.
Signed earlier this week as a substitute player, Thomas completed his six-day quarantine and joined the Nets for his first training session with the team on Saturday in the NBA bubble in Orlando (Sunday, Manila time).
He did not take part in the scrimmages, though.
“Just had an individual with one of the coaches to feel the basketball again and get some shots up,” Jacque Vaughn was quoted as saying by Tom Dowd of brooklynnets.com.
“An added addition, great to have him, great human being and he'll definitely help us.”
Thomas, who was with the Nets in the preseason, looks to quickly adjust for the NBA restart.
“I did preseason with the team, and I’ve been playing against most of these guys for most of my career, so I’m very familiar with their games,” he said.
“We’re pros. We’ve got to learn things on the fly regardless. There’s a few things I’m probably going to have to learn on the fly, but there is an advantage to knowing the personnel, having experience playing against these guys and playing with them through training camp,” Thomas added.
The Nets face the Pelicans when scrimmages start on July 22, before facing the San Antonio Spurs on July 25 and the Utah Jazz on July 27.
The season resumes on July 30 with the Jazz facing the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the LA Clippers.
Brooklyn battles the Orlando Magic on Aug. 1.
