    Lamarcus Aldridge cancels meeting with Knicks, gives Lakers a second chance

    A DAY after the Los Angeles Lakers seemingly lost out in the LaMarcus Aldridge sweepstakes, the coveted big man cancelled a meeting with the New York Knicks and will be giving the Lakers a second chance to make their pitch instead.

    After numerous sources claimed that Aldridge dismissed the Lakers as a potential destination, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports said a new meeting with GM Mitch Kupchak and coach Byron Scott will focus on Aldridge’s role on the court and the Purple and Gold’s future basketball plans.

    Wojnarowski earlier reported that the Lakers "didn't make a strong impression" in their first meeting with Aldridge who disliked the basketball part of the presentation that dwelled “on opportunities outside of basketball."

    Reports also claimed that Kobe Bryant, who talked for three minutes, “didn’t quite gel” with Aldridge who besides saying he sees the talented power forward in a “Pau Gasol” capacity beside him was unable to provide the answers Aldridge sought from him.

    Aldridge reportedly did not meet the Knicks after learning they wanted him to play center alongside Carmelo Anthony, a position he has refused to play in the past with his old team, the Portland Trail Blazers.

    The Miami Heat are also scheduled to meet with Aldridge, who earlier said he was impressed with his meeting with the San Antonio Spurs.
