ANDREW Wiggins scored a career-high 47 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had a double-double as the Minnesota Timberwolves routed visiting Los Angeles Lakers, 125-99, in a battle of young, promising teams on Sunday (Monday, Manila time).
Wiggins sank 14 of 21 shots, leading the Wolves to a strong first half, outscoring the Lakers 69-43. LA made a run in the last period to close the gap to 95-87 before Wiggins and Anthony-Towns led a Minnesota rally to close out the game.
Anthony-Towns finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Wolves (3-6). Nemanja Bjelica went 5 for 8 from beyond the arc for 24 points.
Lou Williams had 17 points off the bench for the Lakers, who went 2-1 in their road trip. Julius Randle added 14 points and six rebounds. Jordan Clarkson also had 14. Luol Deng scored 13 and Brandon Ingram finished with 10 points for the Lakers (6-5).
The Timberwolves played without starting guard Zach LaVine and reserve forward Shabazz Muhammad, both to sore right knees.
