WITH 20 NBA seasons under his belt, Kobe Bryant is facing retirement.
But even as his NBA career comes to an end, the ‘Black Mamba’ has a plan before he walks away from being a professional athlete.
According to Spanish newspaper El Periodico, Kobe, whose contract with the Los Angeles Lakers expires at the end of the upcoming season, quipped he would love to end his career overseas with FC Barcelona's basketball team with former teammate Pau Gasol.
Barcelona director of professional sports Albert Soler said Bryant made the joke when the NBA superstar received the team’s new basketball section t-shirt.
With his limited Spanish, Bryant indicated he was willing to sign for one year with the Catalan club.
“Bryant said he is willing to help us in whatever we want and would like to finish his career at the club with Pau Gasol. It is a sign of the projection of the club in the world,” Soler told the newspaper.
Bryant, who spent a portion of his childhood in Europe when his father played overseas, considers Gasol one of his favorite teammates and has even called the Spaniard “brother” on several occasions.
Bryant and his wife Vanessa welcomed the club in Los Angeles and even watched their training session.
