COACH Dave Joerger denied he was not trying to take shots at Sacramento Kings executives when he made comments about Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic.
In making the clarification, he made a quite an assessment of Marvin Bagley, the player picked at No. 2 in the draft ahead of the impressive Slovenian.
Joerger told Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic there was “no veiled shots” at anybody when he praised Doncic.
"Perhaps there was an idea that there was a ceiling on him. I don't see it, unfortunately for us. But he's great for them and he's great for our league," Joerger earlier said about the emerging Mavericks star.
Joerger later raved about Bagley, and that partnered with DeAaron Fox, the Sacramento Kings have their version of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s old dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
"When we drafted Marvin at [No.] 2, we were high-fiving like crazy. We got the right guy for us. This isn't going to be a story in three days and it'll be definitely buried five years from now when we have the next Durant-Westbrook. That's how good they're gonna be."
