LA Salle vented its ire on Far Eastern University, coming up with a dominant opening set before easing to a 25-5, 25-23, 25-23 on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

It was a huge win for the Lady Spikers, bouncing back from a four-set loss to Ateneo and taking solo second spot with their sixth win in eight outings.

The Lady Eagles are on top with a 6-1 win-loss record.

La Salle put on a ruthless opening set, limiting FEU to the second lowest output since University of Sto. Tomas allowed University of the East only two points in the first set of a three-set win in January 2010.

That UST team bannered by Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Angge Tabaquero, Rhea Dimaculangan and Maika Ortiz also was led by now FEU coach Shaq de los Santos.

The Lady Archers took an 11-3 lead and continued to pound on the listless LadyTamaraws.

FEU regained composure in the next two sets, but by then La Salle was on cruise control.

The Lady Tamaraws absorbed their second straight loss and fourth in eight matches.
