Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd was fined a hefty $50,000 by the NBA for intentionally spilling a drink on the court to delay a game Thursday (Friday, Manila time).
The rookie coach bumped into Brooklyn reserve Tyshawn Taylor with 8.3 seconds left in the Nets' 99-94 loss to the Lakers on Wednesday, causing his drink to spill. Video showed the Nets coac appearing to tell Taylor to "hit me" as the guard walked towards the bench. The ensuing clean-up caused a delay which allowed the Nets, who were out of timeouts, to diagram a play.
Kidd, who joked he had "sweaty palms", denied any wrongdoing but was rebuffed by the NBA.
