KEVIN McHale has been fired as coach of the Houston Rockets, just months after leading the team to the NBA Western Conference finals.
The former Boston Celtics star confirmed the news to ESPN, moments after his firing was reported by Yahoo! Sports.
JB Bickerstaff is set to take over in an interim capacity.
The Rockets are 4-7 win-loss this season and are in the middle of a four-game losing streak, prompting a players-only meeting on Tuesday - a day after a loss to the Boston Celtics.
McHale was 193-130 in his stint as Rockets coach.
