FORMER NBA Most Valuable Player and Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant unveiled the eighth edition of his signature shoe line with Nike on Wednesday.
In a tweet posted by nikebasketball, Durant can be seen with the matte red version of the KD8, which, according to Nike, features the combination of a Flyweave upper and Zoom Air sole for quick, lateral motion and stability.
The Flyweave technology is derived from design textiles used for spacesuits, while the Zoom Air provides cushion that moves along with the foot. For the KD8, additional notches were added in the forefoot and the heel.
Durant said the tandem made his feet feel like it’s fastened with a seatbelt.
The KD8 also features an adaptive heel cushion, taking a design detail from Durant’s right calf tattoo. The midsole wraps high to secure the foot with a spike at the back of the heel that resembles a sabertooth tiger fang.
The strap over laces found in the KD7 were abandoned in the latest iteration.
The KD8 comes in two colorways; V8 colorway inspired by Durant’s 2010 customized matte-red Camaro, and the July 4thcolorway which combines the colors red, white and blue.
The KD8 is now available on NIKEiD for customization. The V8 colorway will be available on July 11, while the July 4th colorway drops on July 27 in limited quantities.
