Warriors ride big second quarter to victory over Heat

THE Golden State Warriors used a huge second quarter to take control, cruising past the Miami Heat, 97-80, on Monday in Oakland (Tuesday, Manila time).

A 28-16 second quarter allowed the Warriors to move ahead and held on for their fourth straight win and eighth in 11 outings.

Kevin Durant scored 21 on 5 of 13 shooting although he went 10 for 10 from the stripe, while Draymond Green went 5 for 10 and wound up with 18 points.

Steph Curry also made just five baskets, on 19 attempts, finishing with 16 points, and Klay Thompson also hit five baskets, on 15 shots, to deliver 13 points.

The Heat could not get a win run going after beating the Clippers, absorbing their sixth loss in 10 outings.

James Johnson came off the bench to score 21, while Goran Dragic came up with 19 points.
