Kemba Walker hits five of Hornets' 16 triples in big win over Nuggets

KEMBA Walker sank five three-pointers and wound up with 27 points, Nicolas Batum added 21 points and eight assists as the Charlotte Hornets kept its playoff hopes alive with a 112-102 win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).

Walker led six Hornets players in double figures.

Marvin Williams finished with 14 point, 12 rebounds and two blocks. Johnny O’Bryant III added 16 points off the bench. Cody Zeller had 11 points and 8 rebounds.

The Hornets were 16 of 27 from downtown with the hot shooting giving them a 61-21 lead at the half.

A lay-up by Will Barton cut the Hornets lead 100-96 with 4:54 left in the fourth quarter but Walker scored five of the Hornets’ seven unanswered points to quell the Denver rally.

Charlotte which has won four of its last 10 and is currently 4 ½ games out of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.

The loss spoiled Nikola Jokic’s 31-point and 14-rebound performance for Denver which saw its two-game win streak end. Danilo Gallinari had 25 points.
