Hornets score wire-to-wire victory over Suns to get back on track

THE Hornets got back on track with a 120-106 victory over the struggling Phoenix Suns on Sunday in Charlotte (Monday, Manila time).

Kemba Walker showed the way for the Hornets, who scored the game’s first eight points and were never threatened as they bounced back from a loss to the titleholders Cleveland Cavaliers.

Charlotte scored its fourth win in the last five games and 33rd in 73 outings.

Walker scored 31 and was an assist shy of a double-double, while five other Hornets scored in double figures.

Nicolas Batum had 18 points and 10 assists, Marvin Williams scored 21, Cody Zeller added 16, Michael Kidd Gilchrist added 14 and Frank Kaminsky came off the bench to deliver 10 points.

The Suns suffered their eighth straight loss and 52nd in 74 games.

Devin Booker, coming off a 70-point outing in a loss to the Boston Celtics, went 7 for 17 and wound up with 23 points.

TJ Warren scored 21 and Tyler Ulis added 16 for Phoenix.
