Charlotte ends long run of futility in OKC, spoils Russell Westbrook's 40th triple-double

THE Charlotte Hornets ended a long run of futility in Oklahoma City, defeating the Thunder, 113-101, and spoiling another triple-double performance by Russell Westbrook on Sunday (Monday, Manila time).

Kemba Walker showed the way Charlotte, which finally won in Oklahoma after eight losses.

The Hornets took charge with a 31-22 first quarter and held on to notch their third straight win.

Walker scored 29 points on 10 of 20 shooting including 6 for 12 from beyond the arc as Charlotte improved their win-loss record to 36-41, although still a couple of notches below the playoff spots.

Frank Kaminsky came off the bench to deliver 18 points and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist chipped in with 16.

The Thunder absorbed their second straight loss even as Westbrook posted his sixth straight triple-double and 40th of the season.

Westbrook scored 40, pulled down 13 rebounds and made 10 assists for OKC, which suffered its 33rd loss in 76 games. He is now just one triple-double off the record set by Oscar Robertson during the 1961-62 season.
