KAWHI Leonard has reportedly remained firm about wanting to be traded, but San Antonio is not likely to make a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to reports.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich traveled to Southern California to speak with Leonard, according to Sams Charania of Yahoo Sports. The meeting, however, was said to be unfruitful.
The disgruntled forward is seeking a move to his home state of California, although nypost.com said sources have noted it is doubtful the Spurs will work out a deal with the Lakers.
Moving out of San Antonio could cost big for Leonard, who has one year and $20 million left in his Spurs contract and a $21 million option for the 2019-20 season. The Spurs can offer him supermax deal of $219 million for five years this summer.
But the star forward is said to be still annoyed after Tony Parker described his own quad injury, sustained in 2017, was “100 times worse.”
Spurs' Kawhi Leonard and Gregg Popovich met on Tuesday in San Diego, league sources tell Yahoo.
