KARL-Anthony Towns had 34 points, 11 rebound and three blocks, Ricky Rubio had 15 assists and 13 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves ended a four-game losing streak by beating the Dallas Mavericks 101-92 in a meeting of Western Conference cellar dwellers on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time) in Minnesota.
Towns shot 15 of 19 from the field, including 2 for 3 from beyond the arc.
Dallas scored the first basket but Minnesota dominated the first period, 33-19, and held on for the win.
The Mavs cut the lead to 81-77 with 7:52 left in the last period but Gorgui Dieng and Rubio scored on successive lay-ups to spark a 10-3 Wolves run.
Andrew Wiggins added 13 points and four rebounds while Dieng had 12 points and five rebounds for Minnesota.
Harrison Barnes finished with 30 points for Dallas which lost its second straight game. Dirk Nowitzki showed flashes of his old self with 26 points and making 5 of 10 attempts from downtown.
Dallas dropped to an 11-27 record while the Wolves are currently 12-26.
