LAS VEGAS - Here we go again. It's deja vu for Kaiju.

Roughly 48 hours after logging a DNP (Did Not Play-Coach's Decision) in his Summer League debut with the Orlando Magic, an 89-78 stinger to the Detroit Pistons, Kai Sotto was again stuck on the bench in a 108-85 defeat to the Indiana Pacers.

As the Magic quickly plummeted to 0-2 (win-loss) in the standings, Sotto is now 2-0 in DNPs, both at the Thomas and Mack Center.

"How do you keep yourself psyched up? How do you keep yourself from getting demoralized," we asked the 21-year old center shortly after the final horn.

The 7-foot-3 former NBL campaigner and current Japan B.Leaguer appeared to have accepted his fate with quiet grace and dignity.

"I'm a professional. I just focus on things I can control. Obviously, I can control myself, my emotions. Just gotta stay ready," he said.

"I mean as a professional you don't get the chance to play in every game. Just gotta stay healthy, keep the positive mindset, that positive attitude and we'll all be good."

Sotto's tranquil demeanor was in stark contrast to the roiling emotions of anger and frustration that many fans have echoed on multiple social media platforms.

We also asked Kai if he will play for Gilas in the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2023 to be co-hosted by the Philippines.

      He was non-committal, uncertain.

"I don't know yet. I mean, I want to but right now I'm just focused on the Summer League. That's what everybody's been telling me. My agent's been telling me, "just focus on this."

Kai takes another bite at the apple on Thursday against the New York Knicks (8 a.m. Manila time) or on Friday (9 am Manila time) against the Portland Trail Blazers.
