LAS VEGAS - Third time apparently is not the charm for Kai Sotto.
The Filipino NBA hopeful sat out his third straight game in the NBA Summer League on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) at the Thomas & Mack Center as the Orlando Magic lost to the New York Knicks in overtime, 82-80.

The Magic had their best game in the preseason showcase but the 7-3 Sotto had no part in it, riding the bench as the team lost a thriller when Jaylen Martin hit a hang-time layup to win it for the Knicks in the first-to-82-points extra time.
Dylan Murphy, the Magic's G League and Summer League coach, stuck with his 10-man rotation with first-round draft picks Anthony Black and Jett Howard cornering most of the minutes as expected.

Black hit the tip-in off a Howard miss at the regulation buzzer that kept the Magic alive, only for the team to sink to 0-3 in the Vegas tournament.
Howard, son of former NBA star Juwan, led the Magic with 22 points in 32 minutes while guard Quinndary Weatherspoon added 17. Black added eight points and 14 rebounds in 30 minutes.
Charlie Brown Jr. tallied 19 points, six rebounds and four blocks to lead the Knicks' to their first win in three Summer League games.
The Magic play the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday (Friday, 9 a.m. Manila time) and sources from the Orlando organization said Sotto is in line for his debut in the game.
