LOS Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson was fined US$15,000 (around P740,000) by the NBA for his shoving match with Miami Heat guard Goran Dragic.
The NBA said Clarkson was penalized “for throwing a forearm above the shoulders to Miami Heat guard Goran Dragic” during the Lakers-Heat game at Staples Center last Friday.
“I thought it was going to be worse to be honest with you,” the Filipino-American swingman told the LA Times. “But it is what it is. Gotta get past it.”
The NBA announcement made no mention of any penalties on Dragic.
Both players were pushing each other on the court during the play before Clarkson sent Dragic to the floor with a forearm push. Both men were thrown out of the game. The Lakers won 127-100.
“When he switched on me, he kind of elbowed me in the stomach a little bit and I kind of shoved him a little bit out the lane,” Clarkson said after the game. “He came back and kind of chunked like an elbow in my chest. From then I pushed him as well.”
Dragic has denied Clarkson’s accusations.
Aside from the fine, Clarkson said he was also issued a warning by the league.
“It was my first one. Just something I’ve got to deal with.”
