FIVE-time All-Star John Wall finally closed the curtains in his 11-year NBA career after officially announcing his retirement in an Instagram post on Thursday (Philippine time).
“Every jersey I wore, it’s way more than just winning the stats. It’s about representing something bigger,” he stated in his video.
The former University of Kentucky standout was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 Draft, selected by the Washington Wizards, where he starred for nine seasons.
Wall averaged 18.7 points, 8.9 assists, and 4.2 rebounds and once became the Washington franchise player, leading the Wizards to four playoff appearances in 2014-15 and 2017-18.
The 6-foot-3 point guard also became famous through his trademark dance, the 'dougie.'
In 2020–21, Wall was traded to the Houston Rockets, but suffered a hamstring injury. After a contract buyout, he then played for the Los Angeles Clippers, his last team in the NBA.

Now 34, Wall expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his career.
“To my family, my mom especially, thank you for all your sacrifices. I hope I made you proud. To my teammates, trainers, and coaches, thank you for believing me. To the fans, you made me feel unstoppable,” he said.
Several NBA stars and former teammates also shared messages of respect and appreciation in response to his retirement.
