    Wizards defeat Lakers to clinch Southeast Division crown, ending 38-year drought

    JOHN Wall showed the way as the Wizards ended a 38-year division title drought, the longest in NBA history, beating the Lakers, 119-108, to top the Southeast Division on Tuesday in Los Angeles (Wednesday, Manila time).

    The Wizards stretched their win streak to four, improving their record to 46-28, third best in the East behind the Boston Celtics (48-26) and the NBA champion Clevelend Cavaliers (47-26).

    Wall scored 34 points on 14 for 25 shooting.

    Otto Porter went 7 for 9 and wound up with 16 points, while Bradley Beal also scored 16 but shot 7 for 16.

    The Lakers, bottom of the Western Conference, suffered their second straight loss and eighth in the last nine games.

    D’Angelo Russell scored 28 and Jordan Clarkson had 22 points for the Lakers.
