Joel Embiid plays down heated exchange with Sixers teammate Shake Milton

Embiid to teammate: 'I'm gonna slap the s___ out of you'
    Aug 2, 2020

PHILADELPHIA star Joel Embiid was quick to play down a heated exchange with teammate Shake Milton early in the first quarter of the Sixers' 127-121 loss to the Indiana Pacers in the NBA bubble on Sunday.

Embiid and Shake Milton had to be separated during an argument near the bench after the first quarter. Matisse Thybulle pulled Milton away as the guard charged toward the Sixers big man while yelling.

    Look:

The Sixers were down 35-29 after the first and already had eight turnovers, including two each from Embiid and Milton.

The root cause of the spat? Apparently Embiid was unhappy with his point guard over this sequence of sloppy possessions.

Still, Embiid said the incident was nothing.

“It’s basketball,” Embiid, who had 41 points and 21 rebounds in the loss, told reporters in a video conference after the loss.

“Everybody makes mistakes. It happens. We’ve gotta communicate better. As players, it happens everywhere. … You discuss what’s going on and you move on, you find a solution. But it’s nothing. It happens. It happens on every team and you just figure it out and you move on, and I’m sure everybody’s going to be better moving forward.”

MIlton struggled with no points, three assists, three turnovers and five fouls in 19 minutes as a starter at point guard, but he no longer heard any words from Sixers coach Brett Brown or Embiid after the game.

"I actually think that stuff like that is far more healthy than anything. Shake’s teammates love Shake Milton," said Brown.
