ROBERT Covington scored off a Dario Saric inbound pass as time expired as the 76ers edged the Minnesota Timberwolves, 93-91, on Tuesday in Philadelphia (Wednesday, Manila time).

The 76ers took charge early and led by as many as 26 but Minnesota Timberwolves fought back.

Ricky Rubio tied the match at 91 with a triple off a Karl-Anthony Towns assist with a second left before Covington saved the day for Philadelphia.

The Sixers made it back-to-back wins after a victory over the Denver Nuggets.

Philadelphia had a strong start, overpowering Minnesota, 29-16, but had an anemic fourth where it scored only 14 points.

Joel Embiid led Philadelphia in scoring, delivering 25 points on 8 of 20 shooting as the Sixers notched their ninth win in 33 outings.

Covington’s heroics allowed Embiid to take the victory this time after Towns and the Wolves won the teams’ first encounter two months ago.

Ersan Ilyasova scored 19 points, while Covington finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Timberwolves suffered their 24th loss in 35 games.

Zach LaVine scored 28, while Towns came up with 23 points and 15 rebounds.
