Bulls vent ire on Pistons with 31-point rampage to break out of three-game funk

JIMMY Butler had 19 points and six assists while Rajon Rondo dished out a season-high 14 assists as the Chicago Bulls broke out of a three-game slump with a 113-82 rout of the Detroit Pistons at the United Center on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).

Rondo, who also finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals, helped lead the Bulls achieve a season-high 34 assists.

Chicago led from the opening tip and quickly established a 35-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. Playing a team game on both ends of the court, the Bulls continued the rampage in the second quarter and the lead ballooned to 69-34 at halftime.

“Give our guys a lot of credit. We played as complete a game as we’ve played all season,” said Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg.

Taj Gibson had 16 points and four rebounds for the Bulls (14-13) who wore their gray, sleeved uniforms for the game. Dwyane Wade added 13 points and five assists. Doug McDermott and Nicola Mirotic scored 13 points each off the bench.

The Pistons (14-16) were led by reserve Jon Leuer who scored 16 points. Tobias Harris was the only starter and the only other player to score in double figures for Detroit with 10.
