Jimmy Butler shuns comparison with Jordan: 'We're nowhere near the same player'

    Jan 4, 2016

JIMMY Butler obviously doesn't relish the thought of being compared with Michael Jordan after breaking 'His Airness' record for most points in a half.

Butler scored 40 of his 42 points in the second half of the Chicago Bulls' 115-113 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday (Monday Manila time).

The mark broke the 39 points set by no less than Jordan, who hit 39 against Milwaukee in 1989.

For Butler though, the comparison ends there.

"'Don't compare me to him' — that's exactly what I said," said Butler, when he was aaked by the media what was his reaction when informed of the record as quoted by the Chicago Tribune's KC Johnson.

"I don't want to be compared to him because then people are going to think I've got to do what he did. I'm trying, but we're nowhere near the same player," he added.

Butler said he is just happy to get the win which the Bulls did without Derrick Rose, who missed his third straight game owing to an injury.

"I'm just happy we got the win. Points or no points, we're leaving here with a 'W.' "
