JIMMY Butler shook off an apparent injury to cap his season-high 40-point outing with the game-winning jumper as the Chicago Bulls avoided the upset ax from the Brooklyn Nets, 101-99, at the United Center on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).

Butler’s 19-foot jumper as time expired capped off a 27-point second half, 13 in the fourth quarter. The Bulls swingman was battling an ankle injury he sustained earlier in the game.

It was the second straight win for Chicago, which trailed the Nets for the most part in the last period. Brooklyn was up 97-90 at the three-minute mark when the Bulls staged a run with a layup by Michael Carter-Williams tying the game 97-all with 1:22 left in the game.

Dwyane Wade, who had 16 points and four rebounds, sat on the bench in the second half after suffering from a migraine. Robin Lopez had 12 points and five rebounds while Rajon Rondo handed out 12 assists to go with his nine rebounds and five points.

Brook Lopez had 33 points while Sean Kilpatrick scored 18 for the Nets, which have failed to win consecutive games this season, to an 8-23 record.
