JIMMY Alapag got a pleasant debut in his first game as an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Summer League as his side triumphed over the Golden State Warriors Tuesday (Manila time).
The San Miguel Alab Pilipinas mentor worked behind coach Jesse Mermuys as Sacramento took the 81-77 win over Golden State.
Wenyen Gabriel topped the Kings with 22 points and 12 rebounds, as Semaj Christon registered a double-double with his 13 points and 11 assists.
Alapag got an invite thanks to Sacramento general manager Vlade Divac, whom he has worked with in the Fiba Players Commission.
Also joining Alapag in the Kings' Summer League coaching staff is Fil-Am Jessica Roque, who played for Cleveland State and is currently serving as an assistant coach in Ryerson.
Sacramento will next face the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer tourney.
