DILLON Brooks and Ja Morant showed the way as the Memphis Grizzlies finally got a tuneup win ahead of the NBA restart, beating the Miami Heat, 128-110, on Tuesday in Florida (Wednesday, Manila time).
Brooks scored 23 and Morant added 20 as the Grizzlies enter the NBA seeding game on a bright note after dropping their first two scrimmages.
While the Grizzlies got a boost before the games that matter, the Heat looked to be struggling.
Butler did put up his best numbers in the scrimmages with 18 points, going 4 for 5, while making seven assists.
But the Heat defense was slow to react, and had a total of 18 turnovers.
Jonas Valanciunas had a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds, while three other Grizzlies scored in double figures.
Jimmy Butler came up with 18 points and seven assists for the Heat, who absorbed their second loss in three exhibition matches.
Bam Adebayo added 16 points, Jae Crowder added 12 and Duncan Robinson had 11 points.
Memphis lost 83-90 to the Philadelphia 76ers and 104-119 to the Houston Rockets in their first tuneup matches.
The Grizzlies take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday in their first match of the seeding games.
The Heat face the Denver Nuggets on Saturday in their first official match of the NBA season resumption.
