Isaiah Thomas heads home to grieving family, says days since sister's death the hardest of his life

ISAIAH Thomas broke his silence and revealed that the days following the death of his younger sister, Chyna, in a car crash have been the hardest of his life.

The Celtics top gun, who went home to Tacoma, Washington to be with his family on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time), finally opened up and released a statement through the team’s social media account expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming love and support he got since his sister died in a single-car accident last Saturday.

“I never could have imagined a day where my little sister, Chyna, wouldn’t be here. She and my family are everything to me, so the pain I am feeling right now is impossible to put into words,” said Thomas. “This has been without question the hardest week of my life.”

Thomas went on thank his friends, family, fans, the city of Boston, the Celtics team, and the NBA community for giving support and for respecting his privacy in this time of grief for him and his loved ones. Read his full statement below:

Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters Wednesday that memorial services have not been set yet but Thomas had the team’s support as he spends the two-day break to be with his family.

The top-seed Celtics team looks to climb out of a 0-2 hole against the eighth-seeded Bulls squad, and they expect to have Thomas back for Game 3 on Friday in Chicago.
