ISAIAH Thomas scored 28 points, 13 in the fourth quarter, and reserve forward Kelly Olynyk had a season-high 26 points as the Boston Celtics snapped the Hawks’ seven-game winning streak with a 103-101 win on Friday night (Saturday, Manila time).
Boston made 17 3-pointers to help cement their third-place ranking in the Eastern Conference.
Al Horford, a fan favorite in his nine seasons in Atlanta, added 10 points, six rebounds and six assists in 35 minutes of action. Horford was given a standing ovation after the Hawks showed a video tribute in the first half.
But Thomas was the star of the night and took over in the endgame, burying a 15-foot jumper before hitting a 3-pointer followed by a 19-footer just with two seconds left for the game-winning shot. Millsap had a chance to tie the game but missed a jumper as time expired.
The Hawks rallied in the last period after Boston went up 77-57 in the third quarter after a 20-5 run.
